Andrew - Youth Sunday Solo

I have to say that God has done an amazing work in Andrew. He is truly in love with the Lord and submissive to His path for him. I just wanted to share this video as it not only shows his giftedness but this song clearly reflects Andrew's heart in so many ways. I cannot wait to see what amazing things Christ does with Andrew's life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And yes for those who know me - I cried a little. :) Paula

Devotion for the day - too good not to blog about!

Psalm of the Day
28 December 2009
Psalm 28

1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.

2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

6 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy.

Thought of the Day: Praise the Lord that He has chosen to show mercy to His creation! He has created a path for us which, although it is narrow, leads directly to His throne. Beyond this act of mercy, He has provided us with a helper that will lead us down this narrow path! If this has been done for us by one who defines righteousness and holiness, how much more mercy should we show those He has placed in our path? Today, I ask you, is there someone in your life who does not deserve your mercy? Will you freely give it, despite their failure to earn it?

“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful..” (Luke 6:36)

Merry CHRISTmas!

I know we have been delinquent in our posts, but tis the season to be busy sometimes! However, as I sit here and reflect on the past week I can honestly say that it was a blessing to resist the business and focus on my family and on the birth of our Lord and Savior! My family has been truly blessed to be surrounded by young people that love the Lord and this Sundays past youth Sunday was evident of their love and dedication. Andrew and Tyler did a fabulous job during praise and worship. As I looked down from the pulpit at my own young children I am reminded why I love working with youth. Their love for Christ is something they wear all day long everywhere they go - boy do we adults have a lot to learn!
So as the holidays wind down and we enter a new year please remember that it is not the resolutions we make for ourselves that will matter in the new year but the resolutions we make for Christ. I resolve to have more of Christ in me this year and to hold on to the boldness of our youth! I resolve to go forth and tell the good news to those that I meet and I resolve to lead young people and disciple them into the Great Commission. Hold me to it, hold me accountable- it is the dedication of each of us to the other that will make our resolutions stick. Pray for us as we pray for you and let us make this New Year one that will have an impact on God's Kingdom! I am excited about what is to come! New opportunities, new open doors, new ways to magnify Christ....

Dobla dee dobla da life goes on fa la la la life goes on..

Sometimes you just need a boost from friends to get the job done. Where would we be without our Christian fellowship? Many times I look back at stormy times in my life and realize how blessed I was to have such wonderful friends in my life. Those I can count on to not only support me when I am weak but also hold me accountable to God's word.
Last night our church hosted a community Thanksgiving event. Each of the pastors spoke and it was amazing. Just to see the Lutheran church, Baptist church, Wesleyan church, Methodist church, Brethren church and Church of God all come together under one non-denominatiuonal churches roof to offer our praise and thanksgiving to a great and awesome God. How blessed are we to live in a community that we can see past the denominational lines into the heart of other people who love Christ. As I sat and listened to all the different pastors speak and sing I was overwhelmed by the solidarity of the community in which I live. Is this not the way it is supposed to be? Are we all not the church? I truly believe that it is the people who get in the way of the body.
I am proud of our community and the corporate worship that we held together last night and the fellowship following it. It makes my heart sing to see us all come together for the sole purpose of praising our Creator.
So to all of our family and friends Happy Thanksgiving. Remember to count your blessings and thank God for each and every one. May you all be blessed through this holiday!

My Prayer

Gracious and loving Father,

Guide our steps and give us discernment to follow your will in our lives. Be with us in our daily endeavors to replicate you in our thoughts, word and deed. Give us the eyes to see those who are hurting around us and sufficient love to help them in their times of need. Regardless of where you send us and what you have in store for us let us be diligent in our current ministry and use us to reach those who need you. We praise you for your love, grace and mercy in our lives. We praise you for our family and their giftedness and their willingness to serve you. We submit to your will and surrender our lives to the greater purpose you have for us.
In your Son's most holy, loving and awesome name,

Amen

Championship Games!!!!

After a long season middle school soccer and volleyball are over - both with successful seasons. Reba played soccer and her team won their division championship game! She really did enjoy this season. It was new for her and she rotated since she is only in fifth grade, but hopefully her time in this year will benefit her next year.

Tori's volleyball team came in second. This was my first year coaching them and boy did I learn a lot. Mostly about Tori - she is determined and encouraging to her teammates. They really had a great season. I could not be more proud of them.

Goodbye 8th graders!
I will miss them so very much - they are really great girls! They played hard and were great sports. The JV team will be blessed to have them next year!

Just feeling blessed today....

How many names can I use to explain the love of my Jesus,
the life that he gave and so many times will I praise you today.
I lift up my life ‘cause you’re always the same
And my offering to you I bring
You’re what I hold on to; I know that you brought me through
All the days of loss, to the cross you knew
I’d need a Savior.

EHCA Junior Retreat - What a blessed day!

So for the first year the junior class went on a day retreat. We worked on team building skills and communication. Then we sat around a fire, had devotions and spent some great spiritual time together. These kids are the best - I really mean that. I have been blessed in so many ways by having them in my life. I see Christ working in each of them and although they each have their struggles - they perservere in Christ's name. This world will be a better place with them in it. Here are some pics - I took 100's but here are a few. Enjoy!

Just some cute pics to share

God has a great sense of humor!

So about a year ago Steve and I started thinking about where we should be serving God. It took us months but then we started "looking into it". We turned down some good jobs this summer - they just didn't seem to be where God wanted us. It is useless to be where you shouldn't - listening for God's voice can be nerving when we want it all on our time table, but you just know when it is or isn't His will. So no complaints and we re-up'ed here at EHCA. After our last ACSI convention we met a man who had such a heart for overseas missions and talked to him for a bit. We left feeling like we were in the desert with no water and needed some living water to drink! After we got home we began to talk and pray and we decided that the pull was more than just a desire but a call. The guy we spoke with said that he had once heard someone say, We are all commanded to go - you must be called to stay. Well that spoke volumes into our lives so we decided to stop limiting God and just put ourselves out there. It reminds me once again to how blessed we are to have God speaking into our lives. So whether it is down the street, across town, a different state or a different country - we submit to going where God calls us, being used for His glory.
So if what we heard is true I have to ask my dear friends? Are you too comfortable? Have you been called to stay? If not, where are you going?

Too Busy for words...

Well this last week has been so incredibly busy! But WONDERFUL!! So let's start with first things first

Andrew was invited by a senior girl, Maura, to prom. It was neat to see him in his tux. All the sudden I saw a young man where a small boy used to be. He is growing up so fast and it seems crazy that he will be graduating in two years. Enjoy the pics!!!

Steelers win by 6!!! 62 - 56 over Kittanning Rotary

Steve was AWESOME! He had a great game and it was so much fun. The kids had signs for their dad and enjoyed cheering him on. I have to say it was the first basketball game I ever went to where I rooted for both teams. Steve had a nice three pointer and ended up with 5 points. He stacked up pretty nice against the superbowl MVP - Holmes. I have to say some of those Steelers were some BIG boys! What a cool thing for him to do - great memories!
